Professional Mariners Courses
sail & power

What does the price include?
Just about everything, food + drinks, the boat, certificates, study material. It only leaves your flights, taxis to and from the airport, and 2-3 nights ashore dinner + drinks. We don't like hidden extras, nor do we expect you too.

How many people are there on each course?
The maximum is 5, but often we will only have 4 on the more advanced courses.

Recreational Courses.

The very successful and worldwide proven "IYT International Certificates" recreational course program has been developed over the years, by an experienced worldwide team of highly qualified prestigious marine professionals.
It is quite unique in that it´s principle objective is to develop your very own boating skills, opinions and judgements through a flexible modular learning programme, with a strong emphasis placed upon "safety at sea."
Unlike other marine training organisations, they do not tell you "this is the correct and only way" nor do they prejudge a candidate/student for "thinking or doing something in a different way." As a training organisation, IYT is not influenced by local or national opinions.
The IYT Recreational International Certificates are currently recognised by 21 countries, with the list being added to all the time.

{iyt logo}

Are the courses bi-lingual ?
We can teach both in Spanish and English, however English is the reference language for all tests etc.

Which boat will I be on ?
This much depends on the course, the time of year and your abilities and experience. We will advise you in the course confirmation.

Well, this practical course is for you.
It covers in depth to an intermediate level, a range of practical subjects, from how to do a preliminary equipment check on an unknown boat, to basic first aid on board, to what to look for when mooring/anchoring in unknown waters, to the rules of the road, signals, shapes and lights, to how to provision a boat for a trip, to how to identify coastline features.

This course is a crucial building block to the International Captain/Skipper Certificate, as it covers nearly all the same subjects but at an intermediate level for coastal day cruising.

About the course ?

Everybody at some point in time, achieves a reasonable level of ability but as we all know, there are just somethings which you just cannot learn by yourself no matter how much you try. And there are other things which you either have doubts about, or you feel the need to be shown how to do it by a professional instructor. And this is what this course is all about.

5 days on board a boat with an IYT Professional Instructor will teach you more than 5 years asking around at the local club or marina!

On this course, your IYT Professional Instructor is not only there to teach you advanced subjects such as, tides and currents, berthing in currents, visual weather indications, pilotage, etc etc; but also to teach you specific topics, that you need for your normal sailing or power boating, resolving any doubts or concerns you had before. (time and weather permiting.)
